Timely Warning — Non-Consensual Sexual Contact Posted on March 7th, 2018 by

TO: The Gustavus Community
FROM: Campus Safety
SUBJECT: Timely Warning — Non-Consensual Sexual Contact
DATE: March 7, 2018

On Monday, March 5, 2018, Campus Safety received an anonymous third-party report of an incident of non-consensual sexual contact that occurred on Friday, March 2, 2018 in a campus residence hall. Gustavus defines non-consensual sexual contact as any intentional sexual contact, however slight, with any object or body part, by an individual upon another individual that is without consent and/or by force. Sexual contact includes, but is not limited to, intentional contact with the breasts, buttock, groin, genitals, mouth, or other orifice, or touching another with any of these body parts, or making another touch another or themselves with or on any of these body parts.

The alleged male has been identified and information about the incident has been forwarded to the Title IX Coordinator.

All members of the campus community are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that does not infringe upon the rights of others. Members of the College community, guests, and visitors have the right to be free from sexual violence, which includes sexual misconduct. Gustavus sponsors many events throughout the year in an effort to provide the campus community with activities, programs, and resources that enhance the quality of student life. Behavior as described in this report threatens our community and devalues the activities and programs. Bystander intervention is one of the most effective ways of reducing incidents that victimize our students.

Anyone with additional information about this incident or a similar incident is encouraged to contact Campus Safety (x8888) or the Title IX Coordinator, Patty Dawson (x6360).
