Crime Alert – Computer Thefts Posted on December 12th, 2013 by

To: Gustavus Students
From: Campus Safety

Over the last two evenings, Campus Safety has taken reports of four computers taken while unattended in the Folk Bernadotte Library. While the responsibility for theft is that of the person committing the offense and not the victim, it is important for all of us to reduce the opportunity for crime.

Having that in mind, please do not leave valuable unattended in any campus building. Keeping valuables in constant possession, reduces opportunity. Reducing opportunity, reduces crime. In addition, if you witness something suspicious, contact Campus Safety to report it immediately. If something doesn’t look right, it probably isn’t and having it checked out can be helping a fellow student out.

The Campus Safety Department is actively investigating the theft of the computers in collaboration with Gustavus Technology Services and the St. Peter Police Department. Anyone with information regarding these thefts, please contact Campus Safety at 933-8888.
