In the interest of safety education and crime prevention, Campus Safety is alerting the campus community to a report filed on Thursday, November 7, 2013.

Residents returning to their on-campus apartment complex witnessed an unidentified male individual leaving their apartment.  Residents called Campus Safety to report the incident.  Campus Safety was able to determine that no other individuals were in the apartment and that no crime had been committed while the individual was inside the apartment.  It is unknown how the unauthorized individual gained entry into the apartment.

Campus Safety is working with Facilities to ensure that all campus apartments are designed to prevent unauthorized entry.

Alerts such as these are designed to bring awareness to the campus community to assist in making individual decisions about personal safety and property protection.  Tips to assist in reducing crimes of opportunity such as this include keeping all doors locked, reporting any suspicious activity and work with roommates and neighbors to watch out for each other and surrounding property.
