On Sunday, May 7, 2017, Campus Safety received an online report of an incident of sexual assault – fondling. The report provided information that the reporting individual exited the restroom and was pushed up against the wall in a campus residence hall. The report described non-consensual kissing, physical touch, the use of some degree of force and the individual being non-responsive to physical resistance and verbalizing of non-consent.
The report indicates the behavior lasted about 90 seconds before a bystander intervened and stopped the behavior.
The alleged perpetrator has been identified and the case has been referred to the Title IX Coordinator.
All members of the campus community are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that does not infringe upon the rights of others. Members of the College community, guests, and visitors have the right to be free from sexual violence, which includes sexual misconduct.
Anyone that is experiencing similar behaviors can contact the Title IX Coordinator, Justine Stein (jstein2@gustavus.edu) or SART (933-6868).
